Six months ago, when I first set up this blog, choosing a theme, working my way through tutorials on how to set up a website, swearing at my tech inadequacies, I kept four words in my head. “Give it six months.”
Well, it’s been six months.
I don’t have a massive readership. But the statistics show me that people around the world read my blog. I don’t get massive engagement. But posts do get engagement, and, ironically, the posts that get the most reaction, despite the fact this was initially set up as a food blog, are the poetry ones. I don’t think I’m showing up in algorithms, but the reasons for this are many, and a bit beyond my tech expertise for the moment. But that can change.
Nevertheless, all the posts I’ve posted the past six months have come from my heart. And for that, it’s been a blessed six months.
I’m proud of what I’ve written. I’m proud of the way the website looks. I’m proud of what I’ve learned about website maintenance and WordPress and SEO, and I’m working on providing a better, faster experience for readers.
Mostly, I’m proud I achieved my mission:
- simple recipes for my younger self
- recipes to pass on to my daughter (who tells me she loves my posts YAY! THIS makes me the happiest❤️)
- writing, poetry, puttering (well, that’s me having a good time).
Anyway, I’m going to give it another six months. I’m genuinely excited for the coming New Year!
In the meantime, thank you for reading this. Thank you if you’ve visited my website. I send you all the very best of wishes (and, as you can see per the video above, Photoshop and iMovie are also coming along 😂).
Love, and excellent cooking to all x
